This is probably because real player uses a different format then windows media player (usualy .wma). Usually a format converter will solve this problem by taking the real player file, and making it into a windows media file. Try searching the internet for real media to mp3 converter, or something like that. Usually you can find free software to convert your files. Hope this helps!
The amount of memory Windows Movie Maker uses depends on the project 'specifics'. In other words, memory usage increases are dictated by demand. The more a project requires from the program, the higher the memory usage at that given time.

If you have to URL of the video then open Windows Media Player. When you have opened Windows Media Player then go to File > Open URL... There you just copy the URL and paste it in there and press OK. The video should start playing, so now go to File > Save As... and save it to a location. There you go, your done!

No. WMP is just the program that your system uses to open song files, upgrading it won't affect the files themselves.
Mixcraft uses MIDI file format which is not compatible with Windows Movie Maker. I am not sure whether Windows Media Player can open them (but I think it can). Audio file name extensions (formats) compatible with Windows Movie Maker are:.aif, .aifc, .aiff, .asf, .au, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .snd, .wav, .wmaAs you can see, MIDI is not listed, therefore is not compatible. But, you should be able to convert the MIDI to .mp3 or one of the other formats for use in the program.
