Howdy, for the tail and brake lights in the quarter panel(not the lights on the liftgate): open liftgate. Locate the two screws attaching the tail light assembly to the body in the space where the quarter panel meets the liftgate. They will be under or next to the rubber gasket that surrounds the lift gate opening. Remove screws. The tali light assembly slides out from the back (front to back). The assembly is friction fit to the body and is a little difficult to remove. I used a piece of wire slid under the black bracket that the screws went through long enough to grab at both ends and pull. Be careful, when the assembly releases it does so without warning. The light bulbs are located in the twist lock sockets the wires from the vehicle enter. Twist and remove socket from assembly, Hold socket in one hand, with the other hand push in slightly on the bulb and turn counter clockwise to remove. Notice the little nibs on the side of the brass part of the bulb. One of the nibs is closer to the bottom of the bulb than the other. When inserting replacement bulb be sure to put this nib in the deeper of the two slots on the socket. For the tail lights on the liftgate: open liftgate. On the underside of the gate there will be two access panels about 4 inches square. Using a flat screw driver, pry the panel from the door. Inside locate the two twist lock sockets inside. The socket closest to the panel you removed will be the reverse light socket. The socket that is harder to reach will be the brake/tail light socket. The bulb replaces as describes above. Good luck. email@example.com
Where is the brake fuse on a 1990 Toyota previa
Replace the light bulb. Tail lights are usually dual filament, 2 filaments in one bulb.
is my car safe to drive if the break light and abs light is on in my 2007 Toyota Camry
To reset the ABS and brake lights on a 2002 Toyota MR2, trying disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes. A Toyota dealer can also reset the lights.
you have bad contact in ground cable of the brake lights You might also like to check that there has not been a bulb replacement lately that uses a single contact in a double contact socket. This would have the effect of shorting the brake and tail light inputs and thus turn on ALL lights when brakes are applied or the parking lights turned on.
Um... Aren't all brake lights in the back of a car?
Probably the functions, running lights, reverse, brake, blinker, and a ground.
Under normal conditions, brake lights do not go out all at once. It is more likely a stop light fuse or a brake light switch. Stop light fuse is located in the fuse compartment located in the center of the console, above the radio. The brake light switch is located at the base of the brake pedal.
My 2000 Toyota Tundra Truck, the brake lights come on when your not pressing on the brake paddle. Not even even if the car is on.
Unscrew the brake lights housing and pull out the casing. Follow the electrical wire and unscrew the lights bulbs behind counterclockwise until it pops out . Change the light bulb by pressing in and turning the light bulb out. Put the new one in... Easy....

Try changing the light bulb
every vehicle must have brake lights to indicate that the vehicle is stopping. with no brake lights the vehicle can cause a rear end collision.
On a toyota tacoma 2003 SR5 when the tail lights are turned on the brake lights come on and when the tail lights are of the brake lights work just fine what could be the problem. If the truck has a trailer plug, inspect the plug and plug wiring for damage and corrosion.
The most likely cause is a bad brake light switch (if none of the brake lights illuminate) but if its only one of the brake lights, try changing the bulb. Even if they still work as running or turn lights because they have a double filament and may still work partially, but not as brake lights.
Brake light switch on the brake pedal is defective
Defective or mis-adjusted brake light switch
If by 'controller' you mean the switch that makes the brake lights come on, it is not in the trunk. It is located underneath the dashboard, next to the brake pedal.
A brake light switch may be bad if a 1996 Toyota Corolla will not go into gear and the brake lights don't work. Another issue could be in the shift lock solenoid.
A malfunctioning brake light relay switch will cause your 1993 Toyota Corolla brake lights to stay on all the time. The brake light relay switch is located beneath the drivers side dashboard.
