There are two ways that I know of
Right click anywhere on the Desktop (as long as it's not on an existing icon) and choose 'New' from the drop down list. Then choose folder. Type the name you want and press 'Enter'.
The more difficult way is to click 'Start' then 'run' and type 'cmd'. This will open a terminal window. From this window you should type 'cd Desktop' which will change the working directory to your desktop. Then type 'mkdir NAME_OF FOLDER' replacing NAME_OF_FOLDER with a name you choose. This will also create a folder on the desktop.
Take your pick.

∙ 12y agoOn the MS-DOS system, the name "con" is reserved for use by the system. Although it is possible to create a folder with that name, it is usually not worth the trouble and may cause system instability. If you absolutely need a folder with that name, you can try letter-number combinations such as "c0n", "con1", or something else.

∙ 12y agoClick "File" on the bar at the top of the screen. A menu should appear and "New Folder" should be an option. Click that and a folder should pop up on your desktop. Good luck!
