If you have the automatic climate control system, I do not think there are actual "bulbs" in the display as it is all electronic. In my 1988 LeSabre I had to replace the entire control unit which I picked up at a salvage yard. Just a thought.
Remove the cover around the controls and you will see the bulbs inside the climate control unit. It just pulls off.
They are soldered on. If you want to replace you need to remove the HVAC control unit, open it and using the soldering iron remove the old bulbs and solder in the new ones. Bulbs of similar size/voltage are available from Radio Shack
To replace the taillights on a 2001 Nissan front first prop the hatch open. Locate the rear lights plastic housing and remove them to find the bulbs. Replace the bulbs.

This question needs to be clarified. Are you referring to bulbs? Or the actual assembly?
You have to replace the lower control did assembly .
Start with the obvious. Burned out bulbs. Replace them. this eliminate the bulbs. Save the old bulbs so that if it turns out to be something else then you will have a spare.
I had to pull off the front bumper to replace the ballast and high and low beam bulbs. that's the only way that I know. I had to do this 2 times when the other bulb went out.If the bulb you replace does not work then it might be the ballast.
