Just contact your network provider and explain what happened and they will probably send you a new sim, its best to get your old one terminated asap as people could be using your credit and stealing all your contacts.

∙ 12y agoDepending on how damaged the SIM card is will result on whether not the information on it can be recovered. If it can, then a recovery software used my the cell company can recover your information safely.

No - the phone is the item unlocked - not the SIM card. If you were to replace the Optus SIM card with (for example) a T-mobile SIM - it would register to T-mobile. You could swap the SIM card back with the Optus card, and still use it.
