This can be a very difficult repair. Replacing the heater core is easy, getting to it, is never easy. You must remove enough dash parts to get to the heater core. I cannot tell you exactly what to remove as I have never replaced one on a 98 Pontiac. Just go very slow, remember where the parts you are removing go. Do not break any plastic parts. You can save lots of labor costs if you DIY, but be aware that this is a very difficult and sometime frustrating repair. Good luck.
