2:19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness [come] by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

What does the phrase You are crucified with Christ nevertheless you live yet not you but Christ liveth in you means?

In the book of Galatians, chapter 2 verse 20, Paul writes; "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives within me." Paul is telling the people in the Church in Galatia that since he has accepted Jesus Christ as his savior, Christs being crucified was for Paul's sins. (Ours too) Those of us that believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that he died to cleanse us of our sins, well our sins have been crucified with Jesus on the cross. So in a sense, we have been crucified with Christ. Our sins were taken upon Jesus. In regards to the "I no longer live, but Christ lives within me." Paul is saying that his old life or old ways are dead to him. He now has Jesus in his heart and that his life is lived according to Jesus. Jesus is in charge of his life. Jesus is in my life too. This doesn't mean that I or Paul are perfect. By no means. But since we have Christ in our lives, we strive to live out our lives as Jesus would have us.

Who is Jesus in your moral living?

Jesus is our moral living, for Galatians 2.20. says: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

What does it mean to be crucified with Christ?

Galatians 2:20 so that it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. This life that I live now, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave his life for me. This means I identify with Christ in His death. Not only was He crucified on Calvary, the 'I' the 'me' was crucified there as well - in Him. This means the end of me as a sinner in God's sight. It means the end of me as a person seeking to do good things to earn salvation by my efforts. It means the end of me as a child of Adam, as a man under the condemnation of the law. The Savior did not die for me in order that I might go on living my life as I choose. He died for me so that from now on He might be able to live His life in me. The life which I now live in this human body, I live by faith in the Son of God. Faith means reliance or dependence. The Christian lives by continual dependence on Christ, by yielding to Him, by allowing Christ to live His life in him.

What does 'substitute' mean in the Bible?

You were acutually asking "Substitute", not "Subsitute, I guess. There are two aspects to answer this question. 1. Christ died for us or on behalf of us on the cross. We are sinners and doomed to be judged by God on an appointed day(Heb 9:27). But Christ came in the flesh(John 1:14) and died on our behalf. He is the Lamb of God(John 1:29). In this regard Christ is our Substitute. 2. Christ resurrected and entered in all those who believe into Him, thus lives in them, live through them, and lived out by them. That's why apostle Paul can proclaim " I am crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. ; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, the faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me." (Gal 2:20)Pauldid not live by his naturallife, rather he lived a life which is a mingling ofGod's life and hislife that has been crucified, resurrected and upliftedwith Christ. This life is a grafted life(Rom 11:24). Therefore for anormal Christian his natural life is substituted by this grafted life.

The basic source of belief forChristianity?

The source of Christianity is Jesus Christ. We believe that He was crucified (killed) upon a cross and took all of our sins upon him so we would be able to live again after death and live with Heavenly Father. We strive to be more like Christ and keep God's commandments so this ultimate goal can be made possible for us. :)

How old is Hazrat Isa AS?

If you mean Hazrat Jesus Christ (May peace be upon him), the Prophet, there are two answers; 1. According to the Christians he was crucified more than 2000 years ago. 2. According to the holy Qur'an (the last heavenly book according to the Muslims), Almighty God ascended him to heavens before his being crucified. It was another person (the jailor) whom Almighty Allah turned into the likeness of Hazrat Jesus Christ. He was crucified. According to the Muslim belief Hazrat Isa AS will descent from heavens, marry, live a normal life and then die.
