If a 16-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy run away to another state together can they get in trouble?

They are both minors and can be taken into custody and returned to their home state. Generally the "runaway" minor(s) are placed in the appropriate juvenile facility until an investigation is completed by state social services, if the situation warrants they will have to appear in juvenile court. There a judge will decide if the minor(s) should be returned to the custody of the parents or placed in a juvenile facility or a group or foster home.
