If a 1991 GTI dashboard is broken but occasionally the oil light will come on but the oil is OK can you run a wire from the sensor to an aux bulb on the dash for peace of mind?

Forget the "Idiot Light" install an [http://www.glowshiftdirect.com/index.asp Oil Pressure Gauge]
They may even have a POD that will work on your GTI. Good Luck and Remember.
