Probably just an adjustment of the switch.

Try to have your Neutral Safety switch checked out or your brake switch, It controls the shifter so you cant put it in gear without pressing the brake

Nissan Altima is a good car for many different reasons. It is not a flashy car but it gets good gas milage and has a reasonable price tag. The car also has nice safety features.

Hardwire It. To do this: Disconnect the cable that connects to the safety switch Then bridge the positive to the negative using any wire Secure the connection using elctricals tape and done. This is less safe but only if you fall off a mountain, otherwise your good :)

Neutral safety switch improperly adjusted or going bad

It is on the clutch pedal. Meaning the clutch must be depressed in order to start the vehicle, since this effectively ensures the vehicle is in neutral.

My husband is a mechanic for a Nissan dealership. He said that you would take the old one off of the transmission and replace it with a new one.
