If a citizen marries an illegal alien what is their status?

if u married an illegal alien u dont have a status so to speak, but u need to get him a green card, or he will get deported and whoever is married to him will have 15 yrs to life in jail for housing illegal aliens

An alien is not illegal as long as she/he has documentation of status. An alien who is documented to be a permanent resident is not illegal. If the alien does not have and never has had documentation of an immigration status, then that person is an illegal alien.

If you are a US citizen and marry an illegal alien who entered the country with a valid VISA, he would not have to leave the country. You would have to have his status adjusted so he would no longer be in the US illegally, however.

Son born in Mexico, no problem until he (not she) reaches 18 years old. By law must enter the military for training to many person can enter but NO ONE can leave Mexico until this service has been completed. At the end all males (in and out) of this service given certificate proving they did complete the requirements.Our son was in the USA never left due to him not being able to leave Mexico until reached the certification age.Life is interesting

If you marry an illegal immigrate, he or she will automatically become a citizen of the nation you reside in. This, of course, depends on if you are a birth or naturalized citizen of your respective country. If you are only a resident alien, both of you will have to apply for citizenship status in the country.
