If a relationship is going good and you did something you did not want to share and he found out and views it as a lie and states he needs time is there a chance he will be back or is it over?

It depends on what you did. If you cheated on him, saw another man and someone saw you with this person, but he was only a friend and you didn't tell your boyfriend, then it isn't right. I have met with a couple of old male friends, but always ASKED my husband if he felt OK with that. If he didn't I would have invited my male friend to the house for dinner, but he trusted me enough to let me meet with him. See, there are simple solutions to most problems, be it another male friend or something else.
Even when you have a deep relationship with a man, it's like "practice" before you get married. If you can't be honest, and discuss most problems with your spouse, then that person is either not right for you or you are immature.
If your boyfriend left you to think about things, then what you kept from him hurt him a great deal and you made the decision to keep this secret and never trusted him enough that he probably would have understood about the problem.
If you were smart you would contact this guy, and if you are lucky he will agree to meet with you some where. When you do, you take 100% of the responsibility of what you did and admit you made a bad judgment call and made a mistake. Explain to him that people are not perfect, you thought you were doing the right thing, but now you know you made a mistake. He sounds like a good guy and if you let this one slip between your fingers simply because you don't feel you have to share important things with him then you are in for one dismal life.
