Insurance follows the car, not the driver. So as long as the automobile is insured, so is the driver. Just make sure the driver has a valid driver's license.

Damages should be sought from the at fault party. Failure to add the owned vehicle to the auto insurance policy has left the driver apparantly uninsured in that vehicle. The claimant may need to rely on uninsured motorits coverage. The insurer may offer a grace period for newly acquired vehicles. both drivers should contact their insurance company as it appears one may have no coverage in the accident.

Can your license be suspended if an auto accident involved your uninsured car driven by my son-in-law who's insurance excluded the car?

Doubt your license will be suspended his might, but you run a risk of losing your plates and any plates in your name, along with fines etc. This is a state specific thing. In my state, the owners of uninsured vehicles (if they were NOT the driver) lose their plates, and the uninsured driver loses their licence. Check with your states dept of insurance and they will be able to answer this.

Is it an accident if vehicles do not touch?

Is there more to this question than meets the eye? Basically, if vehicles don't touch then it's difficult to see what accident has happened, but of course, if a body has been squeezed between the vehicles, thereby preventing them from touching, then yes, there has been an accident. Answer: Any Insurance company can be claimed for the damage of the vehicle and not the accident. It is up to the investigating agencies to look into the cause of the damage and ascertain if it was damage to accident in contact with what obstacle. It is not necessary that there a visual contact. Accidents/damages can occur even without a contact for insurance claims to be claimed for.

Should you get uninsured motorist insurance?

Unfortunately, yes. Although the laws require every motorist to have adequate insurance coverage in order to register their vehicles, some will do just that and once they receive their current vehicle license, drop the insurance simply because they cannot afford it and eat, too. You should also get "under-insured" motorist coverage too ... some may have the absolute minimal insurance that simply will not cover enough of the expenses that are incurred by accident victims.

Do you believe that Quad Bike Insurance is necessary?

"You should always have insurance on your vehicles, regardless of what type. If you get in an accident and don't have insurance, you can be liable for any damages or injury to yourself or others. You should make sure you are protected."

What will happen to your driver's license if the vehicle is in your name and you don't have insurance?

This depends upon which state you are in. Almost all states require liability insurance on vehicles that are registered for road use. Some states, like California, closely monitor electronically which vehicles have current insurance and which ones do not... and the ones that do not get a hefty fine for every day the vehicle is uninsured. Some states are not so proactive.

Do you have to add your child to your car insurance if they live at a diffent house hold but primary driver of the car?

Only if you expect your insurance to cover you if the child has an accident. You auto insurance contract states that you are responsible for listing all household members and drivers who drive your vehicles. If you do not do this then you have committed material misrepresentation and the insurance company is then not responsible for paying for the damage from the accident.

What is uninsured motorist property damage?

Uninsured motorist property damage, or "UMPD", is basically a form of auto insurance that's one step above liability. Basically when you drive a car and only have liability, your insurance will only cover other vehicles in case of accident, as someone's else's liability or other insurance would cover you if you happen to have gotten hit. Now, if you were to get hit but that person lacked insurance and you only had liability, your only other option to recover any money would be to file a lawsuit. However, lawsuits are simply court orders to pay money and aren't necessarily guaranteed. UMPD would cover your car in case someone happened to hit you and they happened to lack insurance.
