By communing with the sea.
Since mermaids are fictious creatures, the reproduce in whatever way the person writing aboout them wants them to reproduce. Here are a few suggestions:
because their reproductive system is on the fish half of their body the females lay eggs and the males fertilize them, no intercourse
I think because the upper half of a mermaid has the human part and the lower side is the fish it would only make sense that they would reproduce like dolphins. Having a "cod" scale of a sort. In myth and lore they are spotted in the ocean by sailors. Which only leads one to come to the conclusion that they are coming up for air. Only air breathing animals (IE Mammals) do that. Another reason this maybe a more viable answer is that the females are most times depicted having breasts on their upper half. Means some sort of mammary gland. Again only mammals produce milk to feed their young. Looking at things from this point of view makes things a little more understandable. -Previous answer.
The answer above is partly right, i think they lure sailors and pirates under water, where before they kill them, the mermaids use them to reproduce by using oral sex
I heard on Yahoo that they reproduce the same as fish. The female lays eggs and after the male ejaculates in the water around the eggs and the eggs hatch after a while. o-o
No. They turn into a human legs when they are ready. And get pregnant for 9 months and hold there baby till they r 1 and there baby grows 2 a mini mermaid. If they r taken out of the water before they r even 1 then they r a human till they are 13. Like the movie The thirteen year. (They can turn 2 human legs any time).
They don't because they are not real so that can not make babies. A baby that was two different creatures wouldn't be able to live in real life. It would die. Mermaids are from stories and myths they do not exist. They don't. They're fictional.
Merhumans DON'T lay eggs. they have scale flaps wich cover private areas. thus, they do it the same way we do. same with nagas (snake people)
Since mermaids are mythological beings, then the answer would be a mythological guess.
Mermaids are not real and they are made up so they don't have babies. It is all made up.
As there are no 'real' mermaids they do not have children.
maybe they are real real they live to deep underwater if we went there we would be dead but they cotuld be fairytales
You are real, but mermaids are not.
Not really. Mermaids come from the imagination of authors and are not real. If the author wants the mermaids to reproduce then he or she would write that into the story.
Mermaids are not real anywhere.
No. Mermaids are not real and never were.
No. Mermaids are not real. They are nothing but myth.
Mermaids are not real. They come to us from legends and stories told by ancient societies. Think about this for a minute if one did happen it couldn't live long because it would have the DNA of two living things. Nature would kill it because it would be abnormal.
Mermaids are mythical creatures that are half-human and half fish. They do not exist in real life, therefore they do not talk. In books and films, however, mermaids usually are able to speak. They also often sing beautifully.
None because mermaids aren't real. Contrary to popular conceptions merfolk do not have tails. They have two legs which they hold together to swim dolphin-style. The only major difference between the merfolk and regular hominids is a large 'tail-fluke' off of each ankle -- which makes the rest of your question very easy to answer.
