It depends on whoch type of marker (gun) you have, mechanical or electric. If you can't tell the difference, then you need to do some more research. 1. If it is mechanical, then not lubing won't matter. My friend has a first generation Tippmann 98C and it's nfever been lubed. 2. If it's electric, then by all means LUBE IT. Lube it after you play, lube it when you haven't played in a while, lube it when you're bored. The pieces need to stay lubed to stay healthy, and if your marker isn't health, it isn't happy, and neither are you.
