If the exhaust pipe is damaged can it cause the car to die and not want to start?
If it is restricted enough, the exhaust valves could burn out. Other than restriction, I wouldn't see how. Only if the pipes are pinched shut or almost completely blocked. Theres no backpressure it will stall out constantly or not start at all. (ever paint a potato black and stick it in someones exhaust pipe?) Theoretically, you can run the car with a huge gaping hole or no exhaust at all, it will sound like junk but it will run.
The burning smell from the exhaust pipe may be caused from oil or transmission fluid leaking into the exhaust pipe. For example, if your turbo is failing on the car, then that can cause leakage from the manifold into the exhaust pipe. There may be other reasons, too, which other people will be better articulating.
Is it possible to suck in water through the exhaust pipe if you try to start a stalled car with its exhaust still submerged?
When I start my bikeWR426fthe exhaust pipe and the boiler immediately gets very hot. And the part of the exhaust pipe that's close to the engine gets red but the engine work fine. Is this normal?
Due to the type of metal used in the production of the exhaust pipes, it is very normal for any motorcycle exhaust pipe to turn red when running, especially at an idle. When the bike is moving the air cools the pipe. That is why the street bikes have chrome covers, so you don't see the red/blue pipe.
What is a 'flex pipe' what does it do and can it be the reason a 1990 Plymouth Laser engine is really loud?
The flex pipe is a pipe that conects the exhaust manifold to you exhaust so that when the moter shifts it doesn't shake the whole exhaust syster. Yes it can be the reason that you car is so loud. Answer OR, it is a cheap way to replace a faulty exhaust pipe. Hi, I own a 1990 Plymouth laser also. The flex pipe is on what they call the "J" pipe. It attaches your exaust…
Older ones could. What happened was the wind blew down the exhaust pipe and spun the turbocharger without there being any oil pressure in it, and it ruined the turbo bearings. Newer tractors have check valves to keep this from happening. A lot of old-timers still put a coffee can over the end of the exhaust stack, which was the way you protected your turbo back then.
On a 5.2 L dodge ram 2 wheel drive, underneath the truck on the exhaust pipe there are two of them. One is directly in front of the Cat. converter, the other is directly behind. They are on the top (truck side) of the exhaust pipe, so they are hard to see, but you will see wires from them. The only wires that you will see leading to the exhaust pipe. Warning, extremly hot exhaust…
What is the cause for exhaust fumes to enter inside the 1994 VW Golf when you turn on the fan and heater on while driving?
What is the cause of a rattling noise on your 2002 Kawasaki Vulcan 800 during engine warm-up and low torque acceleration which seems to originate near the where the exhaust pipe meets the engine?
had the same problem with mine.If you take off the exhaust pipe you will see that inside the pipe at about 2 inch from the top the inner pipe is cracked. If you're lucky and it's not too far down you will be able to get it weld(MIG).Mine was almost a complete circular crack of the inner pipe and not accessible...had to buy new set of exhaust!! Good Luck JM
