When a dog has bitten a cat does it have rabies?

If the dog doesnt then no,

But just to be safe check with your doctor about the bite, even if the dog doesnt have rabies they most likely have bateria in their mouths that can be dangerous.

When you get bitten wash with soap and water and wrap it in something sterile to keep the bite clean, then go see your personal physician as soon as possible.

Hopefully not, but as with any kind of vaccination there is always the possibility of still contracting the disease. I'd certainly take her immediately to the vet so he/she can be carefully watched! Or He/She will Bite you!

While there is some controversy over vaccinations in dogs, generally, it is HIGHLY recommended for all dogs to be vaccinated for rabies. Rabies still exists in a wide variety of animals and the only way to prevent it is by vaccinating.

In most cities in North America it is LAW to have your animal vaccinated.

It is also highly recommended to vaccinate for distemper/parvo/adeno virus type 2/parainfluenze and corona virus.. these are typically combined into '1 shot' and need to be updated yearly.

Rabies is a shot on its own with nothing combined. After the first shot at about 16 weeks of age it is due again in a year. After that shot it is only due every 3 years.

Why risk potentially fatal diseases when they can be prevented easily.

Well just because a dog didn't get its rabies shot doesn't mean it has rabies but assuming it did have rabies (It would be foaming at the mouth among other things) It would take a while for the symptoms to show themselves but here they are.

The period between infection and the first flu-like symptoms is normally two to twelve weeks, but can be as long as two years. Soon after, the symptoms expand to slight or partial paralysis, cerebral dysfunction, anxiety, insomnia, confusion, agitation, abnormal behavior, paranoia, terror,hallucinations, progressing to delirium (craziness). The production of large quantities of saliva and tears coupled with an inability to speak or swallow are typical during the later stages of the disease; this can result in "hydrophobia", in which the patient has difficulty swallowing because the throat and jaw become slowly paralyzed, shows panic when presented with liquids to drink, and cannot quench his or her thirst.

But not always and like I mentioned before not all dogs without the shot have rabies but if you do have a dog and it doesnt have the shot try to get it vaccinated as soon as possible and if you were bitten by a dog with rabies then alert your doctor.

Depends, did the dog break skin? if it did and its bleeding then you should call up your doctor or go to the hosptal, if its wont stop bleeding, wrap it in a towel and go to the hospital! that's what we did when i got bit, and it was a good thing we decided to go to! going to the doctor or hospital would be the best thing to do, and be sure to get it checked to make sure it's NOT disinfected!

Not necessarily. The dog just may have bitten the cat in reaction to something, or because it is aggressive to cats. Signs of rabies are fearfulness and changes in behaviour in the initial phase, progressing to agitation and over reacting to outside stimuli. In its full blown stage, the animal will become aggressive and disoriented and may have seizures. Paralysis in the head and neck area may also cause the animal to foam at the mouth due to difficulties swallowing. I'm not sure that you are worried about the dog or the cat having rabies, but if your cat has been bitten and you don't know if the dog has been vaccinated, consult a veterinary clinic.

Nothing unless it comes in contact with the disease. If your dog goes outside for any reason it is better to have it get the shot. Most city bylaws demand all dogs be vaccinated against rabies.
