Oil pumps are pretty durable but Id say if you are having a low oil pressure issue then definately. But a good high volume (NOT HIGH PRESSURE!!) oil pump is a huge improvement over stock. PLUS they are cheap. Id say its worth the peace of mind seeins how you are right there and it only takes one bolt.

how do you change the oil pump on a 1991 s10 pickup
Yes, the oil pump could be damaged if the timing belt tensioner was damaged in the vehicle. It is a good idea to check the oil pressure to determine if the pump is working correctly.
Answering "How do you change oil pump on 1999 plymouthy neon?"
if you are VERY GOOD at auto repair DO NOT try to do this.
The oil pump is located inside the oil pan. You have to drop the oil pan to replace the oil pump.
Good question. I'm looking for a way to prime the pump before initial start-up of a Pontiac 350 that has sat for years. If, I were to have to change the pump, I would be looking at safely removing the oil pan, first
Have to remove the oil pan to get to the pump.
To change an oil pump on a H2 you need to first drain the oil from the H2. Once the oil pan is empty, drop the pan in order to reach the oil pump. Remove the bolts and disconnect the hoses on the oil pump and replace with the new one.
