Microsoft WordThere not looking for that kind of answer!! Just do ctrl and o(open) at the same time.

yes of course you can open it .. it might show up symbols in place of characters, but you can always get them updated and then you will get it opened properly..

Suppliments: The reverse may be a bit troublesome. Just make sure if you open a MS 07 document on a 03, you must save the document as a 03-97 format to prevent data losses.

Yes you can open..., MS Word always save its documents in form of "Microsoft Word document (*.doc) ".. So a Microsoft word document can be opened in any version i.e., 97,2000,2003 and 2007. --> by (raviteja459@gmail.com)

MS 2007 is more function than MS 2003. MS 2007 have different and more colorful interface, which take a while used to it. MS 2007 support of new document format docx (XML documents format).Document format which allow users of old word software to open the document, but document that create from MS 2007 cannot be open in MS 2003. MS 2007 take up more spaces than MS 2003, and MS 2007 is harder to work. It cand make a document, presentation look a lot better and colorful, it do a lot of improvement. MS 2003 research tools to check on definition, explanation and translation of word or phases used in the document. MS 2003 includes more templates, such as in PowerPoint and more and more ease of downloading templates from online. MS 2007 changes the way a lot of things word. The largest changes is the tool bar and its less flexibility with graphic.New "Ribbon" interface would require about two weeks to learn. After two weeks of pain and suffering your productivity should be almost as good as with MS Word 2003.

If the document was created using Microsoft Office 2007 then it will have a file extension similar to the earlier versions but with an x at the end of the file extension. For instance, if the file is created in Word, then the file extension with be .docx and will not be able to open in any earlier versions of Microsoft Office. You can create a document and when saving use the drop down box at the bottom to save it as a Word 97-2003 .doc file. These .doc files are the only files that will work with earlier versions.

For instance: Word 2007 file extension - .docx

Excel 2007 file extension - .xlsx

Powerpoint 2007 extension - .pptx

Word 97 - 2003 extension - .doc

Excel 97 - 2003 extension - .xls

Powerpoint 97-2003 extension - .ppt

That is a matter of personal opinion. Personally i think its way better you can do all sorts of things, like make a word 3D & do page color & all these other sorts of things you wouldn't be able to do with word 2003. I am currently using word 2007 & it takes some learning and experience but its great!

Microsoft Word 2003 uses the format .doc, while Microsoft Word 2007 uses the format .docx. Microsoft Word 2007 can open .doc and .docx and leave them unchanged, but Microsoft Word 2003 will back engineer a .docx file to a .doc file; using only the features compatible with 2003, so some formatting and embedded code will be lost.

A person using an older version of Microsoft Word (like 2003, for example) cannot view Microsoft Word 2007 files unless they have a program from Microsoft called Word Viewer 2003, which allows them to see upgraded versions of the software's documents.

An additional way to allow users of a previous version of Microsoft Word to see upgraded versions is to downsave. Downsaving saves the document into a previous version of Microsoft Word. To downsave in Microsoft 2007, click the Office Button (in the top left), Save As, Other Formats, and then select 97-2003.
