Pap smear scraps some of the cells off the inside of the wall of the vaginal opening. These cells can tell the doctor whether or not you have an infection, pre-cancerous cells, STD, etc... A pap smear would not detect an ovulation or uterine issue that could prevent you from having children. Having a normal pap smear is always a good thing, but is not neccesarily an indication that you will not have problems conceiving. If you are trying to conceive it would be best to talk to your doctor.
