Yes it is possible but what happens is that the unemployment benefits for the state you were receiving/living in will be terminated and you will be forced to reapply in your new state. slightly complicated process but many people do it as they move to another state in search of work.

Unemployment is not related to your housing situation; there are other benefits that cover that.

Unemployment can only be collected if you have no job, usually with additional requirements such as having worked a certain period within the last number of months or years, and that you are activly seeking work.

The only way you can collect unemployment is if you had qualified for it by a work history in the last 15 months, the right amount of wages, and other requirements set out by your state's employment security department, and the right conditions for how you left your job. Merely moving out of state does not make you eligible for benefits. If you met all the above, you can collect benefits if you move out of state.

How can you collect unemployment if your spouse relocates to Maryland from New Jersey?

If you qualify for unemployment benefits in Maryland, then you move out of state, as long as you comply with the state's requirements to continue receiving them, then yes. The main question, however, is why and how you left your job. If through no fault of your own, most likely. If quitting, it's more complicated and you have to check with the state's office for clarification.

You are working and will have to quit your job to follow your husband can you apply to unemployement in the new state you will be moving in and get benefits?

First, some states allow you to collect unemployment if you have to move because your spouse relocates, in which case it would be from the state you moved FROM (the "liable state"). Secondly, you could not collect from the state you move to because that state did not collect unemployment taxes from your former employer (hence, not the "liable state")

If you work in New York and live in New Jersey where do you collect unemployment benefits?

This depends on where you work and how your pay check is issued, ie which state your unemployment insurance is paid to. The state that INSURES you against unemployment is the one that pays you. Do not confuse this with tax filing as you will file taxes in the state that you reside. Also relevant is the fact that you can move to another state after you turn unemployed and still collect your unemployment money from our earlier host state. Do bear that in mind.

Can you continue to collect Colorado unemployment if moving out of state?

Yes you can still collect unemployment from CO if you move to another state. You do have to register w/ the new states job search office of where you move to & there is a form you have to fill out & send to CO. It is form B-569 & you can find it on colorado.gov website. When you get to their website just enter B-569 in the search area & it should be the first form to pull up. It is called "Notice to register to work". You will still have to do your CUBline every 2 weeks as normal. I know this because I just moved from CO to another state.
