If you hit a car in park from behind at about 5 or so miles an hour and the car moves does that mean the transmission busted?

No, I would not think it would do any damage to the transmission of the car you hit. That is not to say that it is not possible, just unlikely.

No if it a manual transmition it is impossible because if it was left in gear it would move the engine and if it was automatic there is some movement if the parkpin has locked but quite alot of movement if the parkpin hasn't locked so who ever told you the transmition was broke tell them that there talking s**t

well if you put the car in any gear and let out the clutch if you rev the engine and it dosent move or moves a little then it's the clutch but if it's a grinding noise and it doesnt move at all i'd say its the transmission my car was grinding and not moving and it was cause the spider gears were all busted and i had to rebuild my transmission

The main shaft of the engine turns the flywheel, which turns the transmission.

If it is an automatic put your transfer case in neutral and your transmission in park, and turn your key to the first notch so the steering wheel moves, This is what we have done for years with our jeeps.

The reverse is "shot" on your transmission. You'll need to either rebuild/replace the transmission or get another vehicle.
