If you need your AC unit for one more season can you change the outside AC compressor from a 3.5 to a 4 ton unit without changing the air handler?
When you have a larger outdoor unit than your indoor unit, several things come into play. Some units are ARI rated as in the capacity loss, efficiency loss, ect. It is not a good idea. Also, evry time you put a new outdoor condenser into a system, it has a full oil charge. When you add the oil alraeady there, you have too much. I do not know if you were meaning a new unit or one that still works just to get by. With the cost of operation, you are always better to replace the system new with matching components.
It may seem obvious, but it can happen. As you were setting the thermostat, you could have flicked the selector switch over to "heat" instead of "cool." If this happened, then the reason you feel the hot air blowing from your system is because the heat is on. Simply move the switch to the "cool" setting to start chilling out. Check the outside unit. This is where your compressor and condenser coils are located. Make…
My car is going through the same issue with the A/C. You CAN replace the compressor clutch without replacing the compressor, but the caveat is that you can't tell if the compressor is any good without a clutch. So basically you are gambling that the compressor will still be good by only replacing the clutch. Hope this helps!
The compressors are basically the same . Very simply put with out getting to technical is what makes a heat pump a heat pump is a reversing valve that changes the direction the refrigerant travels in lines leading to and from the condensing unit and to the coil, without changing direction of flow in they compressor. You should always check with the manufacture before replacing an unlike compressor for compatibility.
Just as any air "compressor" does. It compresses air molecules. The same theory can apply the a garage air compressor when it pumps air into a tank. What happens is air is pulled through a convergent duct into the combustion section using a compressor rotor and stator vane cases. The compressor rotor is a series of discs with small airfoil shaped blades on the end with 2 split half cases containing guide vanes that direct…
For one, the dog and the handler are usually not apart when in public. Think about it for a minute----what use is a Guide dog for the handler if the dog is not with the handler? Most Guides will not leave their handler even if the leash and harness handle are dropped. That is their person, and they do not normally leave their side. The only time my wife's Guide is away from her in…
Generally, amplitude and frequency are separate characteristics of a wave. There's no connection between the amplitude and the frequency. You can independently specify either one without changing the other. Caveat: There are some characteristics of nonlinear waves for which there is a connection, but that is outside of the basic question here.
Before removing the compressor from a refrigerator or other appliances, you must 'reclaim' the refrigerant. This is done by connecting a compressor-pump on the access connection and pumping the refrigerant into an approved storage tank. once the refrigerant is out of the system, you crimp & cut the lines going into the compressor. There will be compressor lube in the compressor; don't spill it or let it leak out.
Find out the reason the compressor isn't engaging, of course! It could be a problem with the clutch, a problem with the low pressure switch, a low refrigerant level (likely caused by a leak in the system which needs to be repaired), or the compressor itself could be defective. Without any sort of diagnosis, we have no way of narrowing down the causes. You won't get cold air without the compressor, so that has to…
Nothing if the compressor bearings are good. Just unplug the wires at the compressor or pull the fuse. If the compressor is locked up or the bearings are shot, then you need to purchase a belt for a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire that came from the factory without A/C. Install the belt, bypassing the compressor, and just leave the compressor alone.
