If you pass an AP class but fail the AP exam you will NOT get a college credit but you will receive credit for the class. Colleges will still recognize that you took an AP class, and you will still receive credit for the class, just not college credit.

What college gives you credit for Pre-AP courses?

Colleges only award credit to Advanced Placement courses (AP). Pre-AP is generally considered equivalent to "honors" courses. Some high schools may add points to one's GPA but it will probably not get you credit for college. Pre-AP is preparation to take a real AP course. Though you will not get college credit, it would still help you if you took a Pre-AP or honors class. It would help accustom you to the harder work that you will face in college.

What does the Ab in AP Calculus ab stand for?

AP classes mean Advanced Placement classes, which are more difficult than regular classes, but also count for more. If you take them in high school, you have the option to take the AP test, which, if you do well, will allow you to exempt part of your college course for that subject AP is short for Advanced Placement. After taking an AP class you can take a test that, if you score high enough, can give you college credit.

What is AP?

AP stands for Advanced Placement, and is a branch of the College Board franchise (same corporation that does SAT, etc.). AP Classes are college level classes that high school students may take, pass an exam for, and receive college credit for. AP exams are scored on a scale of 1-5 (1=Fail, 5=Highly qualified). Most universities accept a 3 or above for credit.

Should I stay in an AP class or change to regular to relieve stress?

Which class is it? I know that AP classes can be stressful and time consuming, believe me Im in 4 of them, but students learn a lot more in them. If you plan on taking the AP exam to try and get college credit then i think you should consider sticking it out. And even if you don't get a qualifying score for credit, you will have learned way more in an AP class versus regular so you will be more prepared for college. Also, colleges like to see rigorous courses taken by students. Good luck!

How does an AP course differ from a dual enrollment?

Dual enrollment is offered to students who are studying in high school, & have completed required courses. They can sign up for college classes taken at the college/online (at no cost to them) vs AP (advanced placement) which is a class offered at the high school, at the end of the course, the students can pay a fee to take a test, if they earn a high score, they will also have earned a college credit. If they do not pay the fee, they still have to take the test, however, if past they will not have earned college credit for it .

What is a pre AP class?

An AP (Advanced Placement) is the equivalent of a college level class. They move at a faster pace and cover more material and are more in-depth than regular high school classes. Many use a higher grade point scale (5.0 or 6.0 rather than a 4.0) and most colleges accept them for college credit.
