ignition module underneath the coil pack gets hot and shuts down those model of car are notorius for that I just went through this personally. The fuel pump was going out. FIRST: Double-check your MAF sensor: Remove the air filter housing and remove the MAF sensor. Carefully spray brake parts cleaner through the side hole where the little wire is. Sometimes it gets hot and "burns" dirt to it. It helped mine a little, but not completely. I had the fuel filter and pump changed to fix the problem. ~ $500 - $600 at a shop using AC Delco parts. Good luck!
Air in the fuel line?? There is a filter in your tank that may need to be replaced.
It can if its dirty enough. Spend ten bucks and replace it to see if your stalling goes away. Replaced mine today and its purrin.
because it's a peice of junk
Check to see if catalytic converter is stopped up,a clogged fuel filter can cause it to go bad .
Hard starting and stalling. When in doubt, replace the filter.
It does not have a cabin filter.
Because it's a Ford.
Check the fuel filter and/or fuel pump.
change your fuel filter
Possibly bad fuel filter
If your engine is stalling when you push the gas from an idle or sitting still it can be several different things. The first thing I would check is the fuel filter. I would have it replaced. If that isnt the problem change your air filter.
If it's hesitant/stalling on acceleration and stalling on slow down or stops, then could possibly be the fuel filter.
The fuel filter probably needs to be replaced. It could be stalling because of a major vacuum leak. Check the PCV valve and all the hoses.
If it is like 92 Cutlass Supreme, it is 2" to right of oil filter, which is right behind rad. Replaced mine yesterday and you might as well do an oil change because, the oil filter has to come out first. Just jack front up a bit, so you can get under and unhook battery 1st. wasn't bad!!
If more than 1 gas filter were are they located on the 91 Cutlass Oldsmobile?
Yes, if it's clogged up.
It could be a clogged fuel filter.
Maybe you've got a dirty fuel filter. Have you ever replaced it? The plug setting is pretty important. Set them to .30 to .35 and the stalling will probably stop when hot.
The alternator has nothing to do with stalling. When did you last replace the fuel filter? If the engine light is on then have a repair shop scan it and repair it. It is cheaper than guessing.
This vehicle does not have a Cabin Filter.
You do not clean any fuel filter you just replace it. If it has a filter in the tank it is a permanent filter that is only replaced when the pump is replaced.
fuel filter is located above the rear axle
Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme
The fuel filter is a permanent filter located inside the fuel tank. It is only replaced when the pump is replaced.
Hard starting and engine stalling. Eventually the filter will become completely clogged and the engine will not start.
