It is probably a female because the colors black and red (orange) are the two basic coat colors for cats. Females have two x chromosomes (xx) and males have an x and a y (xy). Since both the red and the black genes are dominant, each color will fit on the x chromosomes (black on one and red on the other). Therefore, if a cat is both black AND red, there must be two x chromosomes, meaning it is female. Rarely you'll find a male with both black and red, this means he has an extra chromosome that should not be there (xxy), and those cats are usually naturally sterile. The fact that it also has white (not a color, but a masking gene that blocks the true color) means it is either a calico cat or a tortoiseshell cat with white (that just depends on how the white and colors are distributed). If your still not convinced, just look under the cat's tail; it will quickly tell you it's gender!
