If your weight on earth (with a gravitational acceleration of approx. 9.8 m/s^2) is 45 kg, then your mass would be 45 / 9.8 = 4.6 - Meaning that on Mars (which has a gravitational acceleration of 3.7 m/s^2), your weight would be 4.6 * 3.7 = 17 kg. To summarize and simplify, the conversion factor from Earth to Mars weight is approx 3.7/9.8=0,38.

The question is wrong. Kilogram is not a unit of weight, it is a unit of mass. Weight is a force, and it is measured in newton.

  • A person with a mass of 55 kilograms will still have a mass of 55 kilograms on Mars.
  • Earth has a gravitational field of about 9.8 meter/second2, which is the same as 9.8 newton/kilogram. Thus, on Earth, such a person will have a weight of 55 x 9.8 newton.
  • On Mars, with a gravitational field of about 3.7 newton/kilogram, the person's weight will be 55 x 3.7 newton.

For more information, read the Wikipedia article on "mass versus weight". Or at least the introductory section.

Yes. The gravity of Mars is only 1/3rd of Earth's at the surface. If you weighed 120 pounds on Earth, you would only weigh 40 pounds on Mars (without a spacesuit).

no, say if you weighed 1kg on earth than you would weigh 0.1 on the moon and 0.3 on mars

If you weighed 150 pounds on earth how much would you weigh on mars?

The mass and diameter of the planet Mars is less that of Earth so there are changes to how the gravity effects you. This would cause a normally 150 pound person to only weigh 56 pounds on Mars.

Mars has a gravitational pull about 38% of that on earth. So if you weigh 100 pounds on earth, you would only weigh 38 pounds on mars. If you are a kid that weighs about 80 pounds, you would weigh only about 30.4 pounds on mars!
