If your 1999 sunfire shifts really hard into drive or reverse it and you have been told that it is not the tranny but a motor mount and you've changed all of those could it be a sensor?

its the sensor located in the intake, called intake air temperature, when disconnected check engine light come on and shifts hard into drive and reverse check for bad harness or unplugged.

It is never going to run right with the converter removed. It is also illegal to operate a vehicle with the catalytic converter removed.
