Rabbits have caused a major problem since their introduction in 1860, as they eat the native vegetation on which so many Australian species rely, and they breed much faster than any of the marsupials do. Feral pigs also eat the vegetation and will attack other creatures. Cane toads are an ever-increasing problem. Not only do cane toads prey on small mammals and reptiles, but animals which may happen to prey to them are then poisoned by the toad's glands.

∙ 7y agoFeral animals are domestic animals, such as dogs, cats, horses, that have escaped captivity and living in the wild. Foxes are not domestic animals so are not feral. Foxes were brought to Australia and released for fox hunting. However, they had no natural predators in that country to control their populations and they became a noxious invasive species that is causing great damage to native wildlife.
