The First Evil taunts Buffy and her crew all year. Though incapable of corporeal form, the First has several agents simultaneously building a huge army and trying to kill the Slayer and her friends. Reason being, Buffy doesn't stay dead, and the First is basically sick of her thwarting the First's pawns (see also Glory, Adam, the Mayor, etc.) The First Evil's number one agent this time around is Caleb, an evil priest who really hates women. So let's get to it. Caleb and his boys have found an axe. Everyone calls it a scythe. Buffy finds out about it, and pulls an excaliber, literally stealing it from a chunk of rock. We find out the scythe has mystical energies, and that it is a slayer keepsake. Also note, this axe/scythe was featured in the comic book "Fray," about a Slayer in the future. In the series finale, Willow uses the scythe's mystical energy to imbue every "potential" slayer with the powers of a Slayer. They create an army. Meanwhile, the First has an army of Tarkatan... Toulakan... ...has anyone ever understood what they're called??? Anyway, they're super vampires. They're rabid and animalistic, and they scare other vampires. And there are thousands of them.

The two sides go to war, mostly beneath the newly rebuilt Sunnydale High in a huge cave. Lots of your favorite characters die. The ones you never really liked, however, live. Anyway, Angel showed up at the beginning of the episode with a shiny amulet which Spike - in his brand new nobility - decides he's going to wear during the big battle, despite the potential of it hurting him. During the battle, Spike's amulet channels the sun through his soul and it burns out the remaining uber-vamps. He and Buffy share a moment and he burns to dust after she escapes the cave. The town caves in on itself as the remaining scoobies and allies escape in a school bus. At the end, they all stand over the hole in the earth that is Sunnydale and ask Buffy what they're going to do next. The End. The comics take a huge turn, but keep in mind - Season Eight of Buffy starts a year after the tv show ended. It makes more sense to know that, since so much has changed.

Buffy dies twice during the series. In the Season 1 finale, she is left to drown by the Master, but is almost immediately revived by Xander. In the Season 5 finale, she sacrifices her life to seal the dimensional rift opened by Glory's followers, but is later brought back from the dead by a powerful spell cast by Willow in the Season 6 premiere.

In the series finale (end of Season 7), Buffy survives and defeats the First. Because she has called a legion of Slayers into being, she is no longer obligated to fight evil. If she chooses, she can live a normal life again.

No she doesn't, but she gets very close when she's stabed in the side by an Ubervamp in the Hellmouth. She gives her magic schythe to Faith, who eventually gives it to Rona, who eventually gives it back to Buffy.

However, Spike, Anya, and Amanda do die.

(this is an edit of the first answer)

No. Spike dies.

The two women who die (in the regular cast) are Amanda and Anya.

Buffy died twice. However, as viewers we have witnessed three Buffy deaths. There is also a contentious gunshot situation that is sometimes thought to be a fourth death, though I will try to explain why it is not.

One: The Master drowned Buffy during a fight in the season one finale. After he left to do evilness about town, Xander and Angel arrived on the scene. Xander quickly revived her with CPR, more or less.

Two: In the season five finale, a hell-god from another dimension named Glorificus (Glory for short,) has opened a portal using the blood of Buffy's sister, Dawn. The portal will bleed an incalculable number of hell-dimensions into our own, essentially destroying it. The only way the portal can be closed is with the ending of Dawn's life inside it, though Buffy realizes they share the same blood. Buffy throws herself into the portal to save her sister's life, and the world, and consequently dies. Despite falling another 300 feet after she is dead and the portal is closed, this is noted as being a very "pretty" death, as Buffy has nary a scratch on her.

Buffy was brought back in the following season six opener by Willow, Xander, Anya and Tara, via a powerful spell that required the Urn of Osiris - a spell that had several repercussions throughout the year - and an act that ultimately set up that year's entire arc in many ways.

Contentious Gunshot Death: Though some may theorize that Buffy died temporarily on the operating table at the end of Season 6 when she was shot (by Warren Meers,) her condition was always critical to stable. If she were to flat-line, the writers would have keyed us in on it. She was critical to stable in this brief period of time, before being magically healed. Though other victims of gunfire were a topic of discussion throughout the rest of the show, her bullet wound was never referenced again, downplaying the probability that she died a third time.

In the musical episode "Once More With Feeling," before the gunshot incident, she had a line in one of her songs where she jests, "It's do or die - Hey, I've died twice."

This one "never happened" as far as Buffy knows: She also died at the end of a season three episode entitled "The Wish," but for two major reasons that can be delved into much more than I am about to, this is never considered 'canon':

1.) We were magically put into an alternate universe where everyone - including Buffy - was very different from the characters we know on the show. So when she died, it wasn't the Buffy we know who died. She was somewhat more Faith-like in this episode, though not to a "T." She was still Buffy, but a Buffy from an alternate dimension.

2.) The episode was undone at the end, and everything that transpired is only remembered by a handful of characters, namely a vampire-version of Willow, and Anya - the demon who enacted the ruckus in the first place.

So Buffy died 3 times that WE saw, but our Buffy only died twice.

Drowned by The Master - S1 - Prophecy Girl

Neck Snapped by The Master - S3 - The Wish

Killed in Mystical Portal (created by Glory) - S5 - The Gift

Shot by Warren Meers - S6 - Seeing Red - did not die but is debatable.

Yes, Buffy does die briefly due to falling into a small pool of water, and drowning. Xander's quick use of CPR brought her back to life, without much change, except the creation of a New Slayer, Kendra. Thus marking for the first time that we know of, two Slayers existing at one time.

Does Buffy choose to live a normal life in the end?

She never had a choice- once a slayer, always a slayer. The only way for her to stop being the slayer is for her to die. There is no 'normal life.' However, with season seven ending as it did, she's certainly provided with the chance to take a break from slaying if wanted.

Why does Buffy want to die in Buffy the vampire slayer?

She doesn't necessarily want to die, but she is at first unhappy with her life in season 6. This is after she is brought back to life by willow, because they think she is in a hell dimension, when she was actually in heaven. When willow tries to destroy the world, but it is saved, Dawn sees Buffy crying and assumes that she wanted the world to end. Buffy says that she wants to show Dawn the world, not end it, and is surprised that she would think that. Buffy went through hard times in season 6, and at points thought the real world was hell, but she would never want to leave her sister and friends.

On Buffy the Vampire Slayer how does a human become a vampire?

In different legions vampires only have to bite humans for them to become vamires. In vampire diaries You have to drink the blood of a vampire, die with the blood still in your system and feed on human blood for the transformation to be complete. In True Blood a vampire has to give you there blood, you die and are buried with your master until you raise as a vampire. Any of this helpful? Well these are just examples of how a human is transformed to a vampire. But in the real world unfortunately there are no vampires.
