In Michigan can a 17 year old get engaged without her parents consent if she plans on waiting to get married until the day she turns 18?
anyone can get engaged i just dont know about getting married your parents may not like it but there arent any laws that say you cant be engaged
There's no legal age requirement. It's just a family matter - the parents don't like the idea. You could be engaged at 14 but since you can't get married without their consent they are still in charge. Otherwise, you'd want to wait until you're old enogh to not need your parents consent for marriage.
You are 16 and your boyfriend is 17 and has his own place you have a baby on the way is there any way around needing a parents consent?
In the case of the marriage of a minor, both parents must attend in person and sign their consent if the parents are married. If the parents are not married only one parent has sole custody that parent must attend in person and sign their consent. In the case of joint legal custody both must consent.
