Stain feared Hitler would make his move into Moscow and take it over as he had done in other European countries. The Russians took severe losses and retreated. Hitler had designs on Moscow but before he could act, Allied Forces under the supervision of General George Patton crushed Hitler;s forces. Patton wanted to move on Moscow at the time because HE knew that the Soviet Union was a threat to the Free World but he was stopped by FDR.
