They didn't invade Germany. That was where it all started. Hitler was appointed to head and took over from there and started taking over other countries to gain more influence and power. He was a dictator through and through.

The annexation of Austria took place in March 1938 - in other words before World War 2. It was immensely popular in Austria at the time. Ever since the collapse of the Habsburg empire in 1918, many Austrians felt that their future lay with Germany. Many Germans regarded Austria as German, but the peace treaties of 1919 forbade even a customs union between the two countries, let alone political union. While Hitler entered Linz and Vienna in triumph he was greeted with delirious applause. Some Viennese promptly celebrated by going to the Jewish Quarter and forcing some Jews to sweep the streets with toothbrushes.

Ok, first Austria-Hungary already fell apart at the end of WW1. Then, Austria didn't enter the war. It first joined the German empire, and then Germany declared the war.

When did the German invade?

1918-1934 That answer is rubbish! Austria was part of Germany until 1866. Germany untied with Austria as allies in World War One, and in World War Two, Hitler formed an 'Anschluss', or pact, giving over power of Austria to him, so technically Austria was never invaded by Germany, because they allied with Germany.
