This is too vague 1.are you getting power anywhere?

Without being there there are hundreds of possiblities to your question.

If you don't have the money for a technician to fix it(hundereds of dollars)

You can get either a chilton's or haynes manual electrical version and troubleshooting for your car at auto zone or the like for about 10 dollars.

Get that narrow it down and post back.good luck

The same thing happened to my 1995 Tercel. I guessed that it was the Alternator. To test if it was, I disconnected the battery while the car was on, and it instantly turned off, which confirms that indeed the alternator is dead. My mechanic also confirmed it. I bought a new one for $95, and once the mechanic changed it, the lights turned off. The same thing happened to my 1995 Tercel. I guessed that it was the Alternator. The placement of the voltage regulator depends on the year of the Tercel. Some are mounted on the fender or firewall, most are an integral part of the alternator and cannot be replaced separately.

There isn't an alternator fuse. The alternator is the power source - it's not fed from another power source. That wire which goes to the positive terminal of the battery is there to transfer electrical power to the battery, not from it.

Not charging. Poor battery, poor alternator, voltage regulator, slipping drive belt.

The 1997 Tercel's alternator is located (if your looking from the front of the car) on the lower left side of the engine. It can be accessed from the underside of the car after removing the shield under the car.
