I'm working on the same thing in school. I think that it has something to do with food coloring mixed with wax to make different color crayons. Then rubbing the hardened wax on the papper makes colors appear. I hope i helpped but just to make sure check other websites because i dont even beleive myself lol.

What are the relations with pigment and chromatography?

the more soluble the plant pigment is with the chromatography solvent, the farther it will travel up the chromatography paper

What name of techniqued is used to separate out the colors that make up a dye ink or stain?

chromatography.

What determines the distance a pigment moves up the paper?

A non polar solvent will determine the distance in which a pigment moves up a paper. This will only work on chromatography paper.

What is paper chromatograph?

Ascending paper chromatography is where a chromatogram rises, or ascends. The paper moves up because the solvent moves it in an upward direction.

In chromatography why do some colours not spread up the paper?

They do not move up because the aren't soluble the solvent

What is ascending paper chromatograph?

Ascending paper chromatography is where a chromatogram rises, or ascends. The paper moves up because the solvent moves it in an upward direction.

Why do you use filter paper in chromatography?

the filter paper allows the chamber to become "saturated" with the solvent.

Why does red show up better than other colors on sun print paper?

because red is very bright

Which determines the speed with which a pigment moves up the chromatography paper?

Chromatography is a technique that separates molecules from each other on the basis of their solubility in particular solvents. As a nonpolar solvent moves up the chromatography paper, the pigment moves along iwth it. The more non-polar a pigment, the more soluble it is in a nonpolar solvent, and the faster and father it proceeds up the chromatography. Pg 94, laboratory 8.1, Inquiry into Life, Sylvia S. What is the purpose of the filter paper inside the developing chamber in chromatography?

Paper is the (solid) stationary phase, 'sucking' up the liquid, mobile (= transporting) phase

What is the origin of show your true colors?

the origin for show your true colors is simple its dont give up show who you are show your true colors :)

Why did different dyes travel up the filter paper at different rates in paper chromatography?

different dyes travel with different speed/rates on filter paper in paper chromatography as they have nothing to do with the filter paper as it is the stationary medium while the rates depends upon the interaction between the solute i.e., dyes and the mobile phase i.e., the solvent.
