Exactly what should the position of the cervix be at the time of menstruation?
The cervix changes position all throughout a woman's cycle. Just prior to menstruation the cervix becomes low and hard, feeling like the tip of your nose. It will also be slighty open.

If the baby's head is engaged in the pelvis (pushing against the cervix) once the cervix is open 1 cm or a finger tip, you can feel his head.

You can't see your cervix. I'm not sure why you would think it's open. Have you put your finger in your vagina to feel it? If you do that, it should feel soft like your lips if you're pregnant. If you aren't pregnant it should feel hard like the tip of your nose.

No there is no way to test using your fingers you can how ever tell if you are ovulating or not by using your fingers by checking the cervical mucus and the position of the cervix if it is low and firm like the tip of your nose then you are not ovulating if it is high and closed then you could be ovulating if it is high and closed it can mean you are pregnant but it is still better to take a test to be sure it could be closed because the cervix is getting ready to lower and start your period.
Is oily skin a sign of early pregnancy?
Oily skin can result from hormone changes, but those can be part of PMS as well as early pregnancy. I always get oilier skin the week before my period. With my last pregnancy (which ended in MC at 9 weeks) my skin was SUPER oily. I didnt' think much about it until I realized I was pregnant. I didn't notice it that much in earlier pregnancies however, which is why it didn't tip me off earlier I suppose.
