∙ 14y agoPlants with very large, flat leaves are typically tropical, understory plants. They use those large leaves to collect as much sunlight as possible, as not much makes it to the lower parts of tropical forests. Also, there is not as much wind down there, otherwise, the leaves would get tattered (as some banana plants do, being a bit taller).
