World War II affected American domestic life in a number of ways. For one thing, people were having to ration gasoline and other items so that they could be used in the war effort. Additionally, women were having to take over the jobs left by men who had gone overseas.

World War 2 had a huge affect on American citizens. One major affect was World War 2 aided the U.S. into getting out of the Great Depression. When the United States got involved in the war, the government demanded military goods production and therefore businesses need workers to fulfill the requirements of the government. The war stimulated the United States economy. Additionally women were given the jobs of men because the men had to go fight on the frontline. The respect of women greatly increased because they helped produce military products. The war helped the United States escape the Great Depression.

When World War One began, Americans wanted remain neutral. The German policies regarding submarine warfare made Americans feel threatened. Finally, after Germany renewed its policy of unrestricted submarine warfare, most Americans turned from neutrality to one of not allowing the so-called "Huns" take over England and France. From 1914 to 1917 Americans drifted to neutrality to one favoring the so-called democracies of England and France.
