Psalm 41 is regarded as being the prophetic Psalm in which Jesus' betrayal is prophesied. The whole of the Psalm deals with this prophecy, but verse 9 is particularly relevant.

'Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me'.

At the Last Supper, just prior to His betrayal, John 13:19 has Jesus quote the Psalm and mention it as being prophetic of the imminent betrayal:

'I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me.'

David never wrote of Jesus' betrayal.

  • Although the psalms are traditionally ascribed to King David, scholars say that the were a genre unknown at the time attributed to King David.
  • None of the psalms really mentions Jesus.

Nevertheless, some believe thay can see vague similarities in Psalms 41 and 55 to the story of the betrayal of Jesus by Judas.
