It depends on what you mean. Most, but not all, U.S. states issue carry permits for handguns and/or other weapons. In a few states, you can carry a concealed handgun or other legal weapon with no permit. See the related link for more information.
In general, every state in the U.S. issues a gun permit, concealed weapons permit, concealed handgun permit, or some variation of that, except for Wisconsin, Illinois, and the District of Columbia. Each states sets its own requirements to obtain the permit. In some states, such as New Jersey, it's very difficult to get a permit. In some states, such as New York and California, it depends on the local county sheriff. In some states, such as Tennessee, Florida, and Utah it's fairly simply; you take a class, then apply for the permit and as long as you are not a prohibited person, you have the permit in a month or two.
Since I first answered this question, Wisconsin has begun issuing permits.
Illinois requires that a resident have a Firearm Owner's ID card to possess a firearm, but beyond that I know of no state that requires a permit to openly carry a firearm. You may want to check websites such as packing.org for a review of state statutes in the states you have questions about. Some locations, such as Washington DC and New York City have restrictions on open carry, but they are not states.
It depends. Each state sets its own rules. Tennessee, for instance, requires a permit to carry a gun on your person, regardless of whether it's concealed or open. In Florida, you have a concealed weapons permit and cannot carry a gun openly legally. Check handgunlaw.us for info. (packing.org was a great site, but it is no longer active).
Depends on what you mean. Every state has as least a few laws stating what type of weapons are or are not allowed, however, most states also issue handgun permits or weapons permits. Check the below link for more information.
Most states that issue permits recognize at least some other states' permits. Check handgunlaw.us for more information.

Florida
Actually, yes. In 44 states, it is legal to carry an unconcealed handgun, although many require a permit to do so. Some, such as Vermont and Alaska, do not. In many of those states, individual jurisdictions such as cities can prohibit the practice, but in most unincorporated areas, there is no law against carrying an unconcealed handgun. In summary, the answer depends on the jurisdiction. Concealed weapons are, of course, another issue.
First, could you tell us what you mean by a "permit for a gun"? MOST states do not require a permit to own a firearm. 48 states require a permit to carry a concealed handgun. Two, Vermont and Alaska, do not require a permit to carry concealed.
Only a few, but I don't remember which ones, except for Illinois.
The answer depends on the context. Usually a "gun permit" means a permit to carry a concealed handgun on your person. Some states (CA I think?) require a registration process in order to purchase a handgun which is sometimes referred to as a "permit". Conceal permits are regulated by state and laws very as many different states we have.
That's a difficult question to answer here because there are too many "ifs." For instance, you can carry a gun in Tennessee unconcealed, but only if you have a Tennessee handgun carry permit. A better source of information for this is handgunlaw.us
think 7 states dont allow Open Carry
It depends on where you are and what you mean by license. If you mean a permit to carry a handgun, in the U.S. you have to be 21 in most states. If you mean a license to purchase a gun, most states do not require that.
It depends on what you mean. In some states, you can carry a handgun openly without a permit. In most states, you have to have a permit to carry a handgun at all, or to carry it concealed. Two states and the District of Columbia don't issue handgun permits. The states that do issue permits have restrictions, a few places within the states that is off-limits, even if you have a permit, such as schools, courthouses, etc.
If you mean a handgun carry permit, it depends on where you are. In the state of Tennessee, permits come up for renewal every 4 years. If you mean a permit to own a firearm, most states in the U.S. don't require one.
It depends on what you mean. You don't have to have a license to own a gun in the U.S. except in one or two states. To carry the gun concealed on your person, in most states, you must have a permit, but not in all states. In some states, you must have a permit to carry it unconcealed on your person, but not all. If you get caught carrying a gun without a permit when it is required, it depends on that state's law. For instance, in TN, it can be a felony or a misdemeanor, depending on what you are charged with. You can be charged with carrying an illegal weapon, which can be a misdemeanor, or intent to go armed, which is a felony.
It depends on what you mean. If you mean legally, it depends on the state. Some states require a handgun to be carried in a holster, but most don't. In Tennessee where I live, if you have a handgun permit, you can carry the gun any way you choose. Otherwise, you basic options are, holster or not in a holster.
It depends on what state. Most states do not have gun registration. A few do, but in most of those states, it's difficult to get a gun permit.
