One of the most important architectural monuments in Germany is the Cathedral of Cologne. Other famous and national monuments in Germany are Neuschwanstein Castle, Bauhaus Sites, and Checkpoint Charlie.
There are many interesting and beautiful places to visit in Germany including Neuschwanstein Castle and Heidelberg Castle along with other fairytale castles. Cologne Cathedral, Brandenburg Gate, Pergamon Museum, Jasmund National Park, and Goethe House are other interesting places in Germany.
Munich is the most visited city in Germany due to the fact that Hitler made that his capital for the Nazi Army, and now there is alot of history there from WW2. But great places to visit are Bonn, Hamburg, Berlin, and Cologne. There are so many old historic famous places it's impossible to name them all.
Berlin is the capital of germany and a very interesting place, near to that is Potsdam where one could visit "Sanssouci", a beautiful mansion (+ park) built Versailles-styled.
Hambourg in the north is known for it's old warehouse district full of museums and theatres.
All the islands along the Northern coast "Wattenmeer" are worth visiting (as well as the cities on mainland like Cuxhaven, Wilhelmshaven and Bremerhaven)
Along the eastern coast where Germany borders on the Baltic sea, there are quite a few nice places to go like Kiel or Wismar or the island of Rügen.
In the south of Germany you may visit Weimar, the birthplace of Goethe. It is an amazing old city with plenty of museums and the famous library of Amalia.
Also in the south is the Black Forest, a region dominated by mountains, lakes and forests . Going hiking is only one thing, one could do.
In the very south of Bavaria is the Allgäu, the German part of the Alps, these mountains are far more higher than the Black Forest.
You see, there are many different and interesting places to go to. But I would (I live in Hannover, northern Germany) prefer the coast line, because there are so many lovely little cities and villages, it' fun to go cycling and after that visit a restaurant, which serve really tasty food...
I adore the East Frisian Islands, cause there you could do plenty of things such as going hiking in the "Watt" or wind-Surfing, sailing and cycling.
I hope you have enough time to visit at least some of these places, because all of them are memorable.
