Some problems with ancient Rome was all the greed and everything that the rulers would do to the people not to mention some of the external problems like when some other countries wanted to fight with them.

∙ 9y agoOne big problem was the political power and the size of the army. Emperors did not want to antagonise the army. The government could barely manage to finance the pay, bonuses and supplies for an enormous army. This, over time, led to taxation regimes which were resented by the people. A bloated bureaucracy also contributed to the difficulty in raising enough revenue. Towards the end of the empire there were also difficulties in recruiting soldiers and the army resorted to hiring mercenaries and also relied on help for allied peoples.

∙ 8y agoRome had far more than two internal problems over the 1,2000 years of her history. These problems also changed over time. In the early Republic there was the Conflict of the Orders between patricians (the aristocracy) and plebeians (the commoners). In the mid and late republic there was the problem of poverty and the shortage of land for the poor to farm. In the late republic there were civil wars. In the Crisis of the 3rd Century there were military anarchy, civil wars, the murder of emperors and raids into the empire by peoples from outside the empire. In the fourth century there were disputes between rival Christian doctrines. In the 5th century there was the problem of usurpation of emperors in the western part of the empire.
