I am on Lexapro and I have been on it now for 6 months. I was taking Paxil for 3 weeks and stopped that cold turkey but I also started taking the Lexapro when I stopped the Paxil. I think you should be fine because you have only been taking it for 2 weeks and it takes about 4 - 6 weeks to build up to a pharmacutical dosage. Now I also think you might have a little of withdrawl symptoms but I'm not sure about that. You should call a pharmacist and they will be able to tell you what to expect for only taking Lexapro for 2 weeks. Why do you want to stop taking it anyway? I think Lexapro is great. In the begining it made me feel tired and like I didn't care about anything but after a few weeks I was great. I gained some weight taking it but I rather be chubby that anxious/panicy all the time.

∙ 12y agoIn theory you should always consult your physician so you can taper off by decreasing your dose every fews weeks but I did stop taking 10mg "cold turkey" and I only took it for 4 weeks. I am currently on day 6 of not taking this med and I am definitely experiencing the withdrawal symptoms. Mainly I feel lightheaded, nausea, dizzy and am getting headaches. I really didn't expect to experience these symptoms since I took it for such a short time so I can only imagine how much worse it could be if I had taken it longer. Apparently, even if you taper off, you will most likely experience these symptoms anyway. I am not to the point where I can't function but it is very annoying and hope it doesn't last too much longer.

∙ 14y agoAccording to a physician, 20 mg/day is the highest dosage prescribed. Nevertheless, you need to speak to your physician to find out what dosage is appropriate for your situation.

∙ 13y agoMy friend stopped taking Lexapro 10 mg cold turkey and was pretty bad off for 3 weeks. I would not suggest this approach.

Oh, yes it is a very big side effect. Well at least for me it is. Stomach felt bubbly after taking 10mg pill it helps when I laid on my side or stood/sat up. Also try taking some nausea medicine or things for sour stomach.

I have been on Lexapro for 6 months (10mg). I have drank alcohol on Lexapro and usually doesn't effect me until the day after and the day after that. Night sweats, insomnia and rapid fire (out of control heart beat) are the worst part. Less drastic was the anxiety that returned which is why i was taking Lexapro in the first place. I am now getting off the drug. The sexual side effects are the main reason I am stopping this drug. I had rather have anxiety then be a sexual gimp.

When I started taking Lexapro I had a constant headache. My doctor told me that was a 'normal' side effect of the drug and it would subside in a few weeks. For me it took about a month to be headache free. To me it was worth it because I chose the headache over the constant sadness. I also suffer from migraines and the Lexapro headache was not debilitating like migraines so I stuck it out and the headache went away. The headache returned after I increased the dosage to 20mg and it took about 3 weeks to adjust.
