No, Continental includes the lower 48 states the (forty and Eight) that was the US flag in both World Wars. Alaska and Hawaii are outlying territories that have been granted statehood- #49 ( apt, as it was a mining state) Alaska, and 50 ( Five-O) Hawaii. In World War II Hawaii, including Pearl Harbor- was a territiory and not a state.

Technically yes. Mentally and emotionally it is not. There is a term that works well to more closely identify Alaska's status. Alaska in not a contiguous US State. It is not a part of common vocabulary and is sometimes used in the wrong context. Alaska represents a major geographic share of the North American Continent but remains a distant place in the eyes of many.
