Carbon dioxide is not poisonous, but it won't sustain life. If you breathe carbon dioxide in strong concentrations that exclude sufficient oxygen you will suffocate and die of lack of oxygen.

This happens occasionally as an industrial accident when workers enter food processing tanks in which fermentation has consumed all the oxygen. Such tanks should always be ventilated with a strong blower.

Global warming is not going to produce enough carbon dioxide to suffocate anybody.

Yes, at high levels CO2 can be fatal, at slightly lower levels it can cause neurological symptoms like dizziness and confusion. Basically this occurs because you're not getting sufficient oxygen to your brain.

Carbon dioxide isn't harmful to breath. It would be a problem if it displaced the oxygen and you suffocated.
