This depends on who is defining the Middle East, but generally, Cyprus is considered part of Europe. However, there is a minority opinion that because Cyprus is due south of Turkey that it is in "Asian space" and, therefore, physically part of the Middle East.

It depends on how you count this. The four smallest countries in the Middle East and North Africa are Lebanon, Cyprus, the State of Palestine, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (from largest to smallest). Lebanon is the smallest, clearly recognized country that is clearly in the Middle East. Cyprus is the smallest, clearly recognized country in the Middle East region, but there is debate as to whether Cyprus is in the Middle East or in Europe. The State of Palestine is smaller than Cyprus and clearly in the Middle East, but it is not clearly recognized. The Turkish Republic of Cyprus is the smallest, but is not clearly in the Middle East (for the same reasons as Cyprus more generally) and is only recognized by Turkey.

There are strong arguments that would compel joining Cyprus to both the regions of Europe and the Middle East. I am of the view that Cyprus is politically and socially a European country, but physically and geographically a Middle Eastern country. In terms of popular culture, it is a mix of European and Middle Eastern attitudes, with a slight European bent, like Greece or Israel.

Tropical wet country in the middle east?

Yes. Both Cyprus (to a degree) and Lebanon are Confessionalist Republics or Compromised Republics. The amount of power that is allocated between the different groups in the country is determined by demographics in the country. If you meant "democratic" as opposed to "demographic", Israel, Turkey, and Cyprus are considered the only true democracies in the Middle East.
