Not really, however North Hollywood is a pretty dangerous place. It depends on the area really.

Assuming you mean the section of Los Angeles, California, USA called "Hollywood", which is the area in the vicinity Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards and Vine Street:

The area is generally well policed as it is a major tourist attraction and a source of revenue for the city. Generally, depending on how you define "safe", the tourist area is relatively "safe". However, adjacent areas are not as "safe" and contain tattoo parlors, sex shops, and a number of people idling about. Not to say that these things create or invite crime, but that they are not what most tourists expect to find in a "safe" and family-friendly area.

As with any destination, use common sense and don't blindly wander into areas you are not familiar with. Keep a cell phone handy for emergencies and use the general rule: If you feel uncomfortable in an area - Leave!

Hollywood contains many iconic landmarks including the Chinese Theater, the Kodak Theater, Madame Tussaud's, and of course, the star filled walk of fame. It is a great place to visit. Enjoy!
