To put it frankly, no she's not. She has wasted lots of money on unimportant or less prioritized things.

According to the opinion polls, the majority of Australians do not believe Julia Gillard is a good prime Minister. Her popularity has been decreasing steadily since early 2011. As of July 2011, a poll of 1400 indicated an 11 point swing against the government in the past twelve months, with the opposition leading 61% to 39%, and Ms Gillard's personal approval rating down to 27%, an all-time low for any Australian Prime Minister.

People are unsure of Australia's direction (although a clear majority think it's headed in the wrong way); they are grumpy about making the weekly household budget balance (even though for most, living standards have risen during the past five years); and they cannot understand the big issues that are supposed to matter. The carbon tax is toxic with the public; the mining boom is treated with suspicion; and a rational conversation about asylum seekers is as far away as it ever was.

The failure of political leadership, the sense of national drift and seeming financial pressure as well as a deepening and acknowledged community cynicism are some reasons for regarding Julia Gillard a bad Prime Minister.
