Yes, they did. Madonna was asked in an interview her opinion of Mariah Carey and Madonna said "I would kill myself if I was Mariah Carey." Mariah responded to Madonna's negative remark in an interview later by saying "Who cares what Madonna thinks? Maybe when I was in high school in the 80's." As far as I know, that was all that was said.

∙ 12y agoA lot of people believe that lady gaga copied madonna's Express Yourself with Born This Way, but this is not necessarily true. Lady Gaga admits that she was inspired and influenced by Madonna, but this does not by any means she copied her. Born This Way's tune and lyrics are totally different from Express Yourself. Even the message is different, although they both tell you to love you for who you are. Madonnas Express Yourself is more to love and what you have, while Born This Way is more like being satisfied with yourself and not worrying if you are different to others.
So I do not know why people are doing this. My best guess is that they are jealous of Lady Gaga, and they do not want Madonna to be taken over. They are both very good singers, so you should not put any of them down. Good music is things that sound nice, even if it is copied (which in this case, its not.)
