No, Janet Jackson was not in a sequel to "The Wizard of Oz."

Specifically, Janet Jackson (b. May 16, 1966) is known much more as a singer/dancer than actress. In fact, her film appearances are limited to five films and five television series. But in 1978 her brother, Michael Jackson (August 29, 1958 - June 25, 2009), played the Scarecrow in the movie version of "The Wiz," which may be considered a creative adaptation of the original 1900 book edition and the beloved 1939 movie version of "The Wizard of Oz."

Believe it or not, no, there isn't. The Wizard in "The Wizard of Oz" isn't actually a wizard at all, but an old circus performer from Omaha. His balloon was whisked off to Oz one day, and since the people of Oz had never seen a balloon before, and he had a large "OZ" stencilled on the balloon, they assumed that he must be a powerful magician or some sort. Being the performer that he was, he took advantage of the situation, used some of his sleight-of-hand tricks to impress the locals, and became the Wizard. Since he didn't know any real magic, he used bluff and bluster and humbug tricks to convince the witches of Oz that he really was a wizard. Many years later, when Dorothy and her friends came to the Emerald City, they saw through his bluster, and he admitted to them that he was a humbug.

However, that was not the end of it! A few years later, he returned to Oz in one of the later Oz books. He then started studying magic from Glinda, the sorceress of the south, and he soon became a real wizard, who could do many real magic tricks.
